Objektbeschreibung:

The property has the advantage of a very gentle slope and several prime building spots. Mature second growth timber covers the entire property and offers incredible privacy. The land borders Crown Land and has access to it via a trail that can be used by ATV’s, snow mobiles and by horse. Across the road a narrow strip of private land separates the property from the Horsefly River estuary with its incredible diversity in wildlife and water fowl.

Within approximately 500 meters there is a boat ramp with access to Quesnel Lake and its far flung reaches. Quesnel Lake is one of the last kept secrets to have an immense water playground at your front door. Hunting and fishing are at your door step. You could park your RV here or plan on the lovely cabin you always wanted in serene surroundings and in total privacy.

There is an old cabin on the property, which is of no value.

A desirable lifestyle can be realized in clean country air away from the hustle of the big cities. Yet you are only a one hour drive from the next town, Williams Lake, and all its conveniences and an airport that connects you to Vancouver International with several flights per day.

Horsefly is only about 20 minutes away and the main road is maintained year round.

Ausstattung:
Horsefly is a diversified community with an economy based on tourism, ranching and forestry. Fisheries and Oceans operate a spawning channel in the village area where Sockeye Salmon return each August and September to reproduce. The Horsefly River watershed is a highly rated fish habitat and is well suited for canoes and kayaks.

The village of Horsefly has various amenities, ranging from post office, liquor store, general store, hardware store, gas station, bakery, library, school, licensed mechanic to a pub and churches.

Horsefly is a sprawling community with far flung out-lying areas where one can find ranches and a multitude of recreational properties on the popular fishing lakes in the vicinity. Many community events take place throughout the year and everybody is welcome to participate.

Recreation: The acreage stretches up a gently rising hill side in the middle of an outdoor paradise. Lots of outdoor activities can be persued in the Horsefly area: gardening, fishing, hunting, dirt biking, four wheeling, horseback riding and driving, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snow mobiling and lots more. There is abundant wild life in the area and access to Crown Land is never far away. Many smaller lakes and the two big lakes, Quesnel and Horsefly, have their own attraction.

History: In April of 1859 the Cariboos’ first gold was discovered then miles above the mouth of Horsefly River. Many miners flocked here, including Chinese people and a small village rose rapidly to meet the miners’ needs. Early buildings included motels; store, post office and several cabins were built on the present day town site.

Thaddeus Harper obtained leases in the area starting a second gold rush in 1887. He employed many men and operated the first hydraulic mine. This little town was called Harper’s Camp. But times were hard and the rush quickly slowed. Many miners moved on, but some stayed to become ranchers and trappers. Later on, when the mining stopped and Harper’s Camp dwindled away, the few remaining residents voted to call the town site Horsefly.

Eventually Horsefly turned into a community with a small village core and the far flung out lying areas with many ranches scattered all along the banks of the Horsefly River. In recent years more and more European families moved to this rural community to enjoy the friendly country atmosphere and get away from the bigger urban centers.

Lage:
North of the village of Horsefly along the Horsefly/Quesnel Lake or Mitchell Bay Road. Horsefly is located to the north east of Williams Lake. The property is adjacent to the Horsefly River estuary and the head of Horsefly Bay.

Access: From the south you follow Highway 97 through 100 Mile House to 150 Mile House. There you turn right and follow the Horsefly/Likely Road. Stay to the right and carry on towards Horsefly. After 54 km you will enter the village of Horsefly. Follow the main road past Clarks General Store on your right, and after about 1 km you will come to the end of the pavement. Follow the road to the right, to Mitchell Bay. Follow the gravel road along the Horsefly River to the Horsefly Bay turn off. After about 1 km the property is to your left. Sign is on the driveway.
